Kirtan is an extremely powerful practice of collective meditation with sacred mantras and music. At kirtan, people say they felt things they didn't know they could experience, and discovered, within themselves, new places, until then hidden.
Hundreds of years ago, yoga texts predicted that in our times we would be governed by anxiety, live less, and argue with each other a lot. As an antidote to our condition, to calm our minds and reach happiness and inner peace, they recommended kirtan.

Which makes the walls, tension and pressure on our shoulders dissolve. Therefore, we feel liberated, relaxed, and reach a state of bliss, or deep meditative 'trance' states.

But to reach a true connection with the self, we need to go through certain authentic internal processes, which work and are proven through the experience of spiritual teachers and yogis for hundreds of years. Kirtan is the most powerful process of reconnecting with the self, at least in Vedic understanding (Hindu philosophy)
Kirtan is perhaps the only moment when we remember what life truly is. Natural. Without external factors. We feel 'high', and the effect doesn't wear off. We remember to call our friends to tell them we appreciate them, we feel the distance between us and others shrinking and we can appreciate our similarities more, instead of judging our differences. When we feel we are part of a whole, that we too are 'a little light on the Christmas tree garland', our soul lights up, and we forget all the ephemeral and temporary things that usually occupy our attention. Together, we experience elevated states and all sorts of things happen within us, and we are much more open to exploring the effects of this deep meditation when we know it's not just happening to us.
